Project: MTM – DRIVERS FACILITIES UPGRADES – DESIGN & CONSTRUCT PROJECT
Design and construction of upgraded Train Driver facilities, including modular buildings, amenities, and associated infrastructure works.
As part of the Metro Tunnel Project, Metro Trains Melbourne engaged Global Rail Australia to deliver the design and construction of new and upgraded Train Driver facilities across Footscray, Watergardens, Dandenong and Westall Stations to support increased operational capacity across the metropolitan rail network.
The project was delivered to support the introduction of the Metro Tunnel timetable by providing new and upgraded Train Driver facilities across key metropolitan stations. The works enhanced operational capacity through the delivery of modern accommodation, accessible amenities, supporting infrastructure, and associated civil, building and services works.
PROJECT SCOPE:
Dandenong Station
- Refurbishment of existing driver amenities, including meal room, locker rooms, toilets and showers.
- Construction of a new DDA-compliant toilet.
- Installation of new modular facilities comprising a wellbeing room, sign-on room and Depot Manager office.
- Construction of compliant access pathways, including ramps, stairs and landings.
- Installation of CCTV infrastructure, fencing and full services integration.
Westall Station
- Design and construction of new modular Train Driver facilities, including a 12-person meal room and gender-separated toilet amenities.
- Construction of DDA-compliant access pathways.
- Installation of CCTV infrastructure, fencing and associated services integration.
- Realignment of the existing shared-user path to accommodate the new facilities.
Footscray Station
- Design and construction of new modular Train Driver facilities, including a 12-person meal room and gender-separated toilet amenities.
- Construction of DDA-compliant access pathways.
- Installation of CCTV infrastructure, fencing and associated services integration.
- Provision of temporary facilities to maintain operational continuity during construction
Watergardens Station
- Modification and refurbishment of existing Train Driver facilities.
- Installation of new modular facilities comprising a meal room, wellbeing room and accessible toilet.
- Provision of temporary accommodation during construction.
- Installation of CCTV, fencing and associated services upgrades.
