Project: Development Victoria – Flinders Street Undercroft Pedestrian Upgrade

Improved Accessibility Delivered Through Flinders Street Undercroft Pedestrian Upgrade

Transformation of the Flinders Street Undercroft into a new pedestrian link, incorporating demolition, heritage restoration, civil, landscaping, lighting, and electrical works. The project improved accessibility and pedestrian connectivity while revitalising a previously inaccessible public space.

Everon Infrastructure was engaged to deliver the Flinders Street Undercroft Pedestrian Upgrade for Development Victoria. The project transformed approximately 1,000 square metres of previously inaccessible space beneath the Flinders Street rail viaduct into a safe, accessible pedestrian thoroughfare, improving connectivity between the corner of Spencer and Flinders Streets and Melbourne Quarter Plaza.

The scope of works included demolition of existing hoarding and surface finishes, bulk excavation of the existing ramp, remediation of the heritage wall along Flinders Street, installation of new drainage and lighting infrastructure, construction of new bluestone paving and an accessible pedestrian ramp, landscaping, handrails, and associated electrical works. All works were completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and heritage requirements.

As the appointed contractor, Everon Infrastructure was responsible for coordinating and delivering all aspects of the construction works, including demolition, civil works, heritage interface management, construction staging, stakeholder coordination, material procurement, and compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements. The project was delivered within a constrained urban environment, requiring careful planning and sequencing to minimise disruption to surrounding infrastructure and adjacent developments.

This project demonstrates Everon Infrastructure’s capability in delivering complex urban infrastructure and public realm projects, combining civil construction, heritage remediation, accessibility improvements, and streetscape enhancements to create safe, functional, and high-quality public spaces.
