Project: MTM – Merri Station Upgrade
Merri Station Upgrade Delivers New Accessibility and Passenger Information Infrastructure
Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) undertook the Better Stations 3.0 Program, a network-wide initiative aimed at improving passenger amenity, accessibility, security and customer experience across metropolitan railway stations.
As part of this program, upgrade works were delivered at Merri Station, located on the Mernda Line within Melbourne’s metropolitan rail network.
The Merri Station Upgrade Works involved the installation of new passenger infrastructure and Operational Control System (OCS) assets across Platforms 1 and 2 to improve accessibility, passenger information services, station amenity and safety. The project included the delivery of new accessibility shelters, Passenger Information Display (PID) structures, CCTV coverage, public address systems, hearing loop infrastructure, seating and waste management facilities.
The Contractor was engaged to undertake all civil, structural, electrical and associated construction works necessary to deliver the Merri Station Upgrade Works. The works included the provision of all labour, supervision, plant, equipment, materials and ancillary services required to complete the project in accordance with the project specifications, issued-for-construction drawings, Metro standards and applicable Australian Standards.
All works were completed within an operational rail environment and were carefully planned and executed to minimise disruption to rail operations, station users and surrounding stakeholders. The completed works delivered a safe, durable and low-maintenance asset that enhanced the passenger experience while meeting Metro’s operational, safety and quality requirements.
