Hampton Station Lighting Upgrade Improves Safety and Visibility for Passengers

As part of the Hampton Station Improvement Works Project, Metro Trains Melbourne (Metro) engaged Everon Infrastructure to deliver lighting upgrade works at Hampton Station.

The project aimed to improve lux levels across the platform and footbridge and provide uniform lighting to enhance safety and the overall passenger experience. The work was carried out within a live station environment and involved upgrading existing lighting infrastructure, improving visibility, and ensuring long-term compliance and serviceability of the station’s lighting system.

PROJECT SCOPE:

Electrical & Lighting Works 

  • Supply and installation of cable containment, and aerial cabling from existing station DBs to all proposed lights.
  • Installation of pole-mounted LED fittings on new and existing light poles.
  • Installation of surface-mounted LED lights on the station building ceilings at Platforms 1 and 2 and the shelter.
  • Modifications to existing distribution boards as required to accommodate the upgraded lighting system

Structural & Civil Works 

  • Installation of two new in-ground light poles, one on each side of the footbridge

Work with asbestos

  • Specialised asbestos contractors were engaged to carry out some works under a controlled environment due to the presence of asbestos, ensuring compliance and safety.
